Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

Not the healthiest of baked goods. But it's okay to treat yourself to a small bar and share the rest. Because you baked it with love.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cups packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cups (1 1/2sticks) butter or margarine(How dare they!)
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 cups (12-oz.) (insert brand name here) Semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided (I used Trader Joe's dark chocolate chunks)
- 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (I wanted more chocolate instead of nuts so Trader Joe's white chocolate chips in this bad boy!)
- 1 can (14-oz.)(Insert brand name) Sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
- 1 3/4 cups (10 oz. pkg.) SKOR* English toffee bits, divided
- * I was unable to find SKOR so I used Heath bits instead
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
- In large bowl, stir together flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg, mix well.
- Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and the nuts.
- Reserve 1 1/2 cups mixture.
- Press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared pan.
- Bake 10 minutes.
- Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over hot crust; top with 1 1/2 cups toffee bits. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 cup chips over top.
- Bake 25 or 30 or until golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup toffee bits.
- Cool completely.
- Cut into bars.
