Nikita Ya'll. It is 106°F at this very moment in Phoenix. I got into my car to head home for lunch and felt like I had entered a crematorium. All the pores of my skin opened up to gasp for a refreshing breeze, but they were denied...until this baby: Mixed Berry Smoothie (combined with the central cooling system of the house.) It made for a great afternoon lunch. I drink it in one of Matt's pretty beer glasses because why not?! And Matt's been making this family smoothies for years and serves it in these fancy schmancy glasses. The only downside is you need to check your teeth for berry seeds before you go back to work. Your co-workers may not like you enough to tell you there's something in your teeth. 🤣 Recipe: Frozen mixed berry blend Orange juice Vanilla Yogurt Blend equal parts together and garnish with a pretty strawberry. Optional additions: vodka but not equal parts and not on your lunch break. 😉 GeorgiaSo Nikita sent over this week challenge. Smoothies.. And.. I packed my ninja the day before.. So Bahama Bucks it was. Pineapple Breeze!! AngieAngie sent this over with no recipe. I mean it looks yummy and all.. But good luck trying to figure it out.. AmyEarlier in the week I received a new cookbook and, I kid you not, the first recipe that I glimpsed was a smoothie recipe. Perfectly providential! Chunky Monkey Smoothie From Vegetarian Comfort Food by Jennifer Browne 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 large frozen banana (peeled) 1 Tbsp butter (peanut or almond) 1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats 4 pitted dates 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 cup ice Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Drink immediately. To make it less sweet, Sony eliminate the dates. Or if that much caused colon blow! In all seriousness I do like the simplicity of a homemade smoothie. So this was a refreshing food challenge. Next week's food challenge is whatever finds it's way to your dining room table next Thursday.. Seriously!! If you'd like to join please feel free to send your recipes and photos no later than Saturday morning to [email protected] in the subject line type Saturday Bites In the meantime stay cool, Nikita, Georgia, Angie and Amy
