GeorgiaThis week was my week and my challenge was for everyone to share their Sunday dinner. It was less about the dinner and more about the experience the time with the family or just some quiet time with a cozy meal The hubs made these tasty pork steaks with caramelized onions.. My great contribution was a no knead rosemary bread. We make a real attempt to have dinner at the table every night. It's not always possible, so we make the most of the time we do. JenFor Sunday dinner I made mini chicken pot pies from Dream Dinners, with a bunch of veggies on the side – fresh grape tomatoes, peas, and asparagus (cooked in a pan with olive oil, garlic, salt & pepper). Technically this was a Saturday dinner, because our Sunday dinners are usually leftovers or take-out. 😊 The pot pies were good, but I prefer this other recipe from Pillsbury for mini pot pies: The asparagus, however, was the best I’ve ever made. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband loved it. I don’t normally enjoy eating asparagus, but I actually liked it. Win. AmyLiving alone I don't have traditional traditions, if that makes sense. My days off differ from most (Tuesday and Wednesday) soooooo my traditional Sunday dinner is usually something new to try. This go around I had breakfast for dinner in the form of Apple Quinoa Pancakes. I topped them with apples lovingly warmed with maple syrup and cinnamon. This were damn good! NikitaThis week, our Sunday dinner fell on Valentine's Day. I can't even remember what we actually ate on Sunday...BUT Valentine's Day - we ate New York Strips & Lobster (often referred to as Surf & Turf), Mushroom Wine Reduction, Roasted Asparagus, & Creme Brulee for dessert. Matthew was the mastermind behind dinner, and the only complaint was we wanted more lobster. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! I've posted the recipe for the Creme Brulee because I uniquely made it without a kitchen torch. Instead, the oven broiler came into play with a careful eye. This was a new recipe for me; I have always thought Creme Brulee was out of reach and too difficult. Boy was I wrong! The sugar topping was crisp and cracked against the back of our spoons when tapped. The vanilla flavoring (I used pure vanilla extract) was simple and perfect for an end to a delicious dinner. I can't wait to do this again. The dinner hour is a sacred, happy time when everyone should be together and relaxed.
