Got to meet this little cutie Abel whose grandmother I met when she was pregnant with his mama. Such a sweet baby. Oh and he was just a crazy about his aunt gigi as his mother and aunt. FYI. The pizza was not too shabby. God is good and I am blessed
Georgia Amy To celebrate the first day of Spring I decided to bake something that taste like Spring (to me). These easy to make Lavender Lemon Bars are all at once delicate and sweet, robust and tangy. The base/crust is akin to shortbread with a riot of flavors. Be warned, cut these into slim bars and keep a drink on hand. If you plan to throw a tea party this year you may wish to consider these beauties. I put the kettle on and indulged in a couple of wee bars myself. Lavender Lemon Bars From Taste of Home April/May 2019 Georgia Today at church we had a celebratory service and brunch for Father Thomas. it's a long story, I'll try to cut it down for the sake of space. The two Anglican Churches here in the Albuquerque area merged together. One priest is staying while another moves on to another. I'm blessed to know both and pray for Father Thomas and his wife as the move on to their next mission and for Father Pete and his wife Beth as they take on the mission here in Albuquerque at Christ the King Brunch was provided by quite a few of the ladies (and gentlemen) of the church. My contribution was 2 breakfast casseroles and these light and lovely lime & coconut scones. FYI, for more information on the Anglican Church of North America click the link below http://anglicanchurch.net/ Happy Sunday.. Until next week,
Amy & Georgia AmyMarch 14= Pi Day Go with the flow when food is a designated hashtag-friendly holiday folks. On a personal note it's also the day after our father's (grandfather for Nikita) death. The thing is, Pops loved pie, any pie. This gets mentioned often on this blog. Hot dogs and pie for the old man. Naturally I have to reach for my most beloved cookbook in my collection and have a go at a new pie to celebrate father. So for Pi Day I made mini Country Apple Pies. Even Trixie the Wonder Mutt had her own canine-friendly version. As always, I switched up a few ingredients to make it a little more diabetic-friendly. I shared Snoop Dogg's recipe for pie crust around Thanksgiving and his recipe is the one I use for every pie now. But here we go with the recipe innards: GeorgiaBeen working on making healthier breakfast options for myself and the husband. I happened upon this breakfast bar and made it the other day. The hubs like them so well he named them monkey bars. I substituted the flour for almond flour. The combo with the oats made this a filling way to start the day. Until next week,
Amy & Georgia Amy I decided to purchase a few items from Chrissy Teigen's Cravings line of kitchen and tableware. One of which is this Liliputian Dutch Oven. Lil bubba does a bang up job for this single girl. Of course you can invest in several and make like individual pot pies and shit. Anyway, I went a mini Dutch Baby. Always a winner. This recipe is too simple. I obviously readjusted the ingredients for a single. But if you are one of the ladies who lunch then make this little pots of joy for your fellow lunchers. I didn't use powdered sugar, I instead went with a pinch of coconut sugar.
Georgia I made these scones for our church breakfast. One batch blueberry with lemon zest one batch lemon zest. All were gone in a matter of minutes. Taking that as a sign that they were pretty good. Actually I find that most people prefer homemade over store bought all day long. Except donuts. Most of the fruity scone recipes call for a glaze to drizzle over the top. More often than not I don't make it. Don't misunderstand me.. A lemon glaze is delish. But. Sometimes the scone is yummy enough to stand on it's own. These scones were just that. But feel free to drizzle a glaze over top. AmyA friend turned me on to Mel's Kitchen Cafe. A lovely food blog that's been around for a dozen years. It dawned on me that I haven't made any of Mel's recipe. Now is the time!!
Easy Choco-Banana Bars Something to try instead of banana bread or smoothies. Though I love both. Anyway, go check out Mel's blog even if this recipe doesn't sound appealing. I'm pretty sure you'll find a few dozen you'll want to try. Happy baking!!! |
