Georgia This year had a lot of highs and lows for us. The highs out weigh the lows by far. Moving home, seeing most of our favorite people. The lowest low was not seeing some of our favorite people. Who were supposed to be here for Thanksgiving. So Ran and I made the most of it.
How do you spend time with all your friends and family and not horn in on their Holiday with their families? Have a day after Thanksgiving Pie Party. Which is exactly what we did. Thanksgiving was a pretty small affair with family, but Friday was spent with more family and friends. We served several pies. Pumpkin, Pecan, key lime and I found a new and yummy way to make apples. An apple pandowdy. Never heard of it? Neither had I. The recipe called for allspice, but did not have any on hand so substituted with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, fresh crushed cloves and cardamon. Served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For me.. Being surrounded by so many loved ones made for one of the best holidays. Praying everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving Georgia NikitaNot quite a baked dish this week but delicious nonetheless! This pie does best in the freezer. Take it out 5-10 mins before serving, and it becomes a perfect marshmallowy softness with a stiffer crust. The beginning of our "Pumpkin Spice" fall! More to come...... Jade (Jen's daughter) Cammy I still have cans of pumpkin so what else should I do? Mom answered that question when she sent me the link for this pumpkin turtle cheesecake. It was worth the work to make it. I also probably should have left it in the fridge for several hours longer before I cut into it as it still hadn't completely chilled. It was still delicious! I had a serious sweet tooth today. While I was waiting for the cheesecake to chill, I baked some brownies with caramel as well... Busy bake week for the ladies and I LOVE Jade's cupcakes
Until next week, Jade, Nikita and Cammy Georgia Apples + cinnamon = a winning combo I've been seeing apple fritters EVERYwhere. I'm dying.. So I made this yummy but still not an apple fritter Cinnamon Swirl Apple Fritter Bread I dare say it's MUCH better than banana pudding but maybe not macarons. I did not add the sugar glaze for it. NikitaWe harkened back to our southern roots this week with a veggie dinner of Collard Greens, Black-Eyed Peas, and Sweet Mashed Potatoes. Vegetable dinners are amazing topped with that green Jalepeno Tabasco Sauce. Try it. Of course, a dinner like that needs to be followed up with Southern Banana Puddin', and oh. my. word! First - you NEED to make this a day ahead. The recipe says give it 2-3 hours to sit in the fridge before consuming, but it really tasted its best the following day. I had Banana Puddin' for breakfast AND dinner yesterday. I mean, people eat bananas for breakfast, right? 🤷🏻♀️ Cammy I decided I was going to try to bake macarons today. I finally got up the nerve to give it a go. Well, they look deformed and taste delicious! I will definitely try these again. I was surprised that they called for turmeric! I also think that, should I make this kind again, I will add a small amount of powdered sugar to the filling. It's a great time to bake!
Until next week, Georgia, Nikita and Cammy |
