AmyFor the longest time I've been saying that if I had a rolling pin I could make pies from scratch. Enter Amazon. I found a stainless steel french rolling pin and pastry brush for less than $15.00. I liked the idea of stainless steel. Seems easier to clean. And it is. On my birthday I took a day trip to Pawhuska to visit the Mercantile. This is The Pioneer Woman's joint. I decided to purchase a pie plate from her signature line of wares. We just had apples as the challenge for Saturday Bites but I felt an apple pie was the right thing to christen my new stuff with. I found a unique recipe that ended up tasting a little sweet and tangy. I did mess up a bit in that I made dough for a 9-inch pie shell and apparently it's a 10-inch pie plate.
